Christian giving is one of those things that can really stretch us for no matter how much we make, it alway seems to get spent. Paul is telling us to share what we have with others, out Christian leaders, fellow believers, and even those outside the Church (Gal 6:6, 10). In a country where we have so much, we can debate about how much we should be giving. Should it be 10%? Does that mean 10% of my net or the gross? Who decides? C. S. Lewis said, “I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare.” I can’t tell you but Jesus can. Ask the Lord to direct you, purpose in your heart, and give out of a heart of gratitude and grace (2 Cor 9:7).
