Are you a skeptic?

by Eric Stephens on January 19, 2008

As I read through Matthew 11-12 Thursday morning, I was struck by the contrast between the reception of Christ by the common people and the rejection by the religious leaders. He performed so many wonderful miracles causing the people to rejoice while the religious leaders could only find fault with him and his message. This theme is repeated through this section of Matthew we have been reading this week. It seems to me as though not much has changed in 2000 years. The common people still hear him gladly while the intelligentsia can only find fault. I believe that there are real and substantial answers for those who have legitimate questions about Christ; however, the professional skeptic is not looking for answers. He is looking for a reason, any reason to avoid submitting his life to the Lord of Glory. It seems to be more about autonomy than reality and truth. Your thoughts?
