Style of Worship Services

by Eric Stephens on January 23, 2008

In our services, we focus on a personal relationship with God through song, worship, and prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God.

The style of the our worship service is much like many contemporary evangelical churches. We begin with prayer followed by four or five contemporary worship songs. Many of these songs will be familiar to those who follow Christian music on the radio or the Internet. On Sundays we will typically include a classic hymn towards the end of the musical portion of the worship service. We do this because we know that we serve a wide demographic of individuals with varying tastes in music and liturgy. Hymns also offer rich spiritual content that “sticks to one’s ribs”.

We teach both expository (verse by verse) and topical (e.g. prayer, baptism, gifts of the Spirit) studies. We do not allow speaking loudly in tongues or the interruption of our services with prophesy if there is a Bible study in progress. It is not that we do not hold to the using of these gifts, but we believe that everything should be done decently and in order. We believe that God will not interrupt Himself. We have specific “believers’ meetings” that do allow the exercise of spiritual gifts.

Our goal is to provide a distraction free service. We offer nursery and toddler room facilities for your children. We also offer Sunday school ages 4-10, and kids’ worship. Sunday school is designed at the children’s level and we encourage you to take advantage of it so that you can focus on God’s Word. So bring your kids so they can worship Jesus too.

We also have an audio and video tape lending library available to help you as you study God’s Word. All sermons are posted on the Internet for your listening pleasure.
