1 Kings 8

by Pastor Ken on April 29, 2009

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest news, you’ve probably heard about the swine flu.  Maybe you’ve seen some of the news clips of workers wiping down school classrooms for example, doing their best to protect themselves and the users of those facilities.

This is just the latest challenge to come down the road.  There will certainly be more circumstances to try us, whether they be aimed at our physical, emotional, financial, or perhaps spiritual well-being.  Where do we turn to find help when trouble comes?

The wisest man who ever lived prayed these words, “And may you hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place.  Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive” (1 Kings 8:30).

Ancient Israel was told to turn “toward this place”, God’s earthly dwelling place, the temple, in their calamity.  To where do you turn when trouble comes?
