1 Kings 22:1-40

by Pastor Ken on December 2, 2009

I was watching on Tuesday night the different reactions of people groups to the decision of President Obama deploying 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.  You couldn’t mistake it - they were very angry at him.  They felt betrayed by this choice.  They felt like they had been fooled by him.  “He’s going down the same road of another administration that we thought we were done with,” was perhaps going through their mind.

We certainly can bear witness to this.  We don’t like having the wool pulled over our eyes.  We would rather not be the victim of the old shell game.  Yet we sometimes try to maneuver things in such a way that we might fool others - our friends, our family, maybe even our pastors.  But one Person we cannot put on that list is God.  He who sees the end from the beginning cannot be outwitted by us.  We’ll learn tonight of an individual - King Ahab - who thought maybe he could pull one over on God.  But I’m sure we can make a pretty good guess as to who had the last word.
